PTI leader in Nowshera, worker in Karachi shot dead(Express Tribune)



NOWSHERA / KARACHI: Former town Nazim Jehangira and a leader of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) from Nowshera, Mumlikat Khan, was gunned down by unidentified men in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hours before a by-election in the district.
Khan was on his way home when he was ambushed by heavily armed assailants while slowing down at a speed bump near Jehangira Chowk, SHO Shakil Khan said. The victim was travelling alone at the time of the attack.
As a result of the attack, Khan was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries while on his way to the hospital. The body was taken to the district headquarter hospital for the autopsy.
The incident took place hours before by-elections are held on August 22 in NA-5 Nowshera.
Soon after the incident, government and security officials reached the area and started investigating. An FIR had not been registered till the filing of this report to ascertain the reason behind the murder.
PTI worker shot dead in Karachi
In another incident, Muzaffar Bangash, 21, was killed in Karachi’s Pehlwan Goth area on Wednesday evening.
PTI workers claimed that Bangash was part of the party and that he had been registered as the party’s polling agent for NA-254, where by-elections are due to be held on Thursday.
